The Arab American Cultural Center of Silicon Valley is proud to present Nancy Rodger, founder of Project Art Bridge, April 18 from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., at the Saratoga Library, located at 13650 Saratoga Avenue. Nancy’s vision is to bridge the gap between the two cultures. She is working with both groups to create and explore ways to expose artists to each other.

“When I started Project Art Bridge Last September, I knew little about Iraq, I did not know any Iraqis. I wanted to know Iraq through the work of Iraqi artists, and needed to know the impact of war on their work,” says Nancy. The goal is to have the Iraqi women artists and American women artists learn about each other’s culture through their artwork.

Nancy will explain the spirit of Project Art Bridge, using a power point presentation to show the work of Iraqi artists from all over the world. Participating artists from the Bay Area will show digital and physical presentations of their work. There will be art from selected Project Art Bridge artists on display and for sale.

Nancy Rodger is the founder of Project Art Bridge. She is an artist and web designer living in San Francisco with her husband and two children. She attended the Syracuse University, the Cleveland Art Institute and the San Francisco Institute of Art. Nancy paints in acrylic and oils and participates in Open Studios in San Francisco. About Iraq: ReframeMontalvo Arts Center based in Saratoga has put on an exhibition called Iraq: Reframe, which is a new series of performing and visual art that explores the cultural and historical significance of Iraq. The exhibition will run through April of 2008. “Montalvo’s quest is to create community engagement through global talent,” said Robert Sain, Montalvo’s executive director. “The contemporary creative community can help us better understand today’s unfolding realities of the Mesopotamian cradle of civilization. We hope that IRAQ: REFRAME can reframe the conversation and stimulate constructive dialogue.” The exhibition is highlighted by artist Wafaa Bilal, who has built a temporary rural structure to symbolize homes built and inhabited by Iraqis living in rural and impoverished areas prior to the modernization period of the 1950s.
