About Iraq: ReframeMontalvo Arts Center based in Saratoga has put on an exhibition called Iraq: Reframe, which is a new series of performing and visual art that explores the cultural and historical significance of Iraq. The exhibition will run through April of 2008. “Montalvo’s quest is to create community engagement through global talent,” said Robert Sain, Montalvo’s executive director. “The contemporary creative community can help us better understand today’s unfolding realities of the Mesopotamian cradle of civilization. We hope that IRAQ: REFRAME can reframe the conversation and stimulate constructive dialogue.” The exhibition is highlighted by artist Wafaa Bilal, who has built a temporary rural structure to symbolize homes built and inhabited by Iraqis living in rural and impoverished areas prior to the modernization period of the 1950s.
